Governor Information

Pendle Vale is fortunate to have a team of dedicated and knowledgeable governors who are dedicated to their role in fulfilling the 3 core functions of governance:

  • Ensuring clarity: Ensuring Pendle Vale’s vision, ethos, and strategic direction are clear
  • Holding leaders accountable: Ensuring leaders at all levels are held accountable for Pendle Vale’s performance, including the educational performance of students and the performance management of staff
  • Overseeing finances: Ensuring that Pendle Vale’s finances are well spent

The term of office for Governors is 4 years from the date of appointment.

Full Governing Body meetings are held at least four times each year. In addition, there are sub-committees which deal with finance and resources; student and staff discipline; official complaints; and any appeals which may arise from these matters. Reports from the committees are passed to all Governors at their termly meeting for information or ratification.

A Governor represents everyone in the school, not just the body which elected them; a parent Governor brings the views and expertise of being a parent and is not a representative of parents as a whole. Any Governor can be approached if a person has a matter of concern or requires information.
